Need to create a healthy hair routine? Haircare might seem to be challenging, especially if you are limited on time, but if you choose the right products and a good hair care routine your hair stays nourished, healthy, frizz-free, and strong.
It’s important to take the right care when cleansing to preserve the health of your scalp. Before applying shampoo, make sure that hair is properly soaked by saturating it completely under lukewarm water for at least a minute. This can help open the pores of your scalp and allow it to be more receptive to any products you apply. Using a sulphate-free, paraben-free and silicon-free shampoo helps you keep the natural moisture of your hair intact. A regular sulphate shampoo can leave your hair damaged, and hair ends extremely dry which can lead to breakage. Most sulphate free shampoos are prepared using natural ingredients that strengthen your hair roots, keep your strands soft and smooth which prevents breakage or hair fall. While your shampoo should be focused on the scalp, your conditioner should be applied to the ends. Don’t apply conditioner to your scalp. You can always add more conditioner or follow up with a mask afterward if you feel like your hair really needs the added moisture. Promising to leave your locks feeling light, smooth and soft, we found this set from Pearl Home Care.
set was a great all-rounder, scoring full marks in our lab test. Tips for washing & drying:
- Wash with a sulphate free shampoo as sulphates can have a drying effect on the hair.
- Apply shampoo to your scalp and work it along the hair strands.
- Follow up with a conditioner and leave it on for at least three minutes. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb or with your fingers.
- Rinse the hair using cool to cold water to seal cuticles.
- After rinsing out the conditioner, squeeze out excess water then wrap your hair with a microfibre
- towel or cotton t-shirt for swift drying.
- Let your hair dry naturally, about 70-80% of the way dry. To avoid overexposure to heat is to use
- the medium settings when blow-drying the hair. When the hair is almost dry use a blow dryer set
- to the lowest possible speed with the coolest temperature setting.
- For a smooth finish, dry hair from the root right down to the tips.
Washing your hair every day is not recommended. Showering removes the essential oils and moisture that your hair needs to stay hydrated. Treat your hair with a hair serum every time you wash your hair instead of using it daily. It helps protect your hair from environmental aggressors and provides moisture.
